Judea. Bar Kochba Revolt, AD 132-135. Silver Sela / Tetradrachm (13.16 g.). Hybrid of Year 1 and Year 2, struck AD 133/4. Facade of Temple, Ark within; Hebrew inscription around ("Jerusalem"). Reverse: Lulav with etrog to left; Hebrew inscription around ("Year 2 of the freedom of Israel"). Hendin 686; Mildenberg 7. This an early emission, since the die break referenced by Mildenberg as starting with example 3 not apparent here. An overall bold strike with some minor areas of posority, but metal quality quite good including residual luster. Very rare; only 8 examples cited by Mildenberg. Extremely Fine. Estimated Value $10,000 - 13,000. From Goldberg's Sale 28, February 20-23, 2005, lot 675. Categories: Greek Coinage
