1827 JR-13. NGC graded MS-65. Mostly untoned with the surfaces reflective. This 1827 date is the second of just four early dimes to exceed the one million coin mark with a mintage of 1,215,000 dimes. While 13 varieties are known from a combination of nine obverse and 10 reverse dies, one of these die marriages (JR-10) is only known in Proof. This JR-1 variety is quite common, however, in higher demand due to its separate listing in the Guide Book. Highly lustrous and largely brilliant with warm silvery highlights on both sides. Nearly fully struck on the hair curls and eagles plumage, with just the faintest touch of weakness at the lowest point of the claws and a portion of the reverse motto. Flat stars on obverse. Star 7 is high and points to the upper corner of the LIBERTY headband. E in STATES is repunched. Rarity-3. Pop 19; 8 finer, 1 in 65 Star, 5 in 66, 2 in 67. Estimated Value $9,000 - 10,000.
