1796 S-91 R3 Liberty Cap VF35. Glossy medium to dark chocolate brown with greenish olive brown toning in the field behind the portrait and lighter brown toning in protected areas on the obverse. The surfaces are smooth and quite attractive in spite of the uneven toning, free of any notable contact marks. The best identifying mark is a small splash of reddish chocolate toning at the bottom of ES in STATES. E-MDS, Breen state II early. The horizontal scaling in the field left of the lower curls is faint but visible. A very attractive Liberty Cap cent. Called EF40 by Bland and tied for CC#9 in his census. Noyes photo #24315.
