1895-S. PCGS graded MS-66. A semi key-date issue among Barber halves, the 1895-S has a not overly generous original mintage of just 1.1 million pieces. As with most deliveries of this type, the '95-S is typically offered well worn, and Mint State examples, when offered at all, are seldom in the Gem category, let alone an MS-66. This softly frosted condition rarity displays modest, yet appreciable cartwheel visual effects as the surfaces rotate under a light. Some rich reddish-golden and lilac tinting is seen, and even the most casual glance will reveal sharp striking definition over all elements of the design. There are a couple of tiny abrasions on the obverse, but these are not out of context for a Barber half dollar at the MS-66 grade level. Pop 4; 2 finer in 67. (PCGS # 6473) . Estimated Value $11,000 - 12,000. Categories: Barber Half Dollars
