1938-D Oregon Trail Half Dollar. NGC graded MS-67+ Star. CAC Approved. Lovely golden obverse toning hugs the rim and extends part way in along the upper margin. The surfaces are sleek and glowing with a healthy satin white color. There is no need to mention marks since this coin is resplendent in every aspect. Only 6,000 minted, a scarce year. (The odd "5" listing in the Guide Book of United States Coins "6,005" pertains to the 5 coins set aside for the annual Assay, which destroyed the coins therein to ascertain their purity, weight and integrity. A net 6,000 were sold to collectors in three-piece sets, P-D-S.). Pop 11; 42 finer (PCGS # 9349) . Estimated Value $700 - 800. Categories: Commemorative Silver Coins
