SNG Cop 1181 (no ethnic, attributed to Kyrene); Rosen --. Seemingly unpublished. Choice Very Fine. This fractional piece depicts the silphium plant, extinct for nearly 1500 years, which was a form of assafoetida. Silphium was valued nearly above gold, as its medicinal and aphrodisiac properties were in great demand, along with the perfume made from the flowers. Estimated Value $600 - 700. Categories:
