ΔΟΚΙΜƐΩΝ, Asklepios standing facing, head left, holding serpent-staff. RPC online temp. 8136. Very fine. Dokimos, who is here hailed as founder of Dokimeion, was a general of Alexander and made Satrap of Babylon by Perdikkas in 322 BC. He was taken prisoner by Antigonos in the battle of Kretopolis in 319 BC after which he changed sides and became Antigonos' Strategos of Phrygia. As such he founded the city of Dokimeion, before he again changed sides to support Lysimachos shortly before the battle of Ipsos in 301 BC, where Kassandros, Lysimachos and Seleukos defeated Antigonos and his son Demetrios Poliorketes.
