Kingdom of Macedon. Alexander III, the Great, 336-323 BC. AR Hemidrachm (2.04 g), struck at Arados, c. 328-320 BC. Head right of Herakles, wearing lion's skin headdress. Reverse: Zeus enthroned left, holding eagle and scepter; monogram beneath throne. Price 3318; M. 1365. About Extremely Fine. A denomination set of Alexander the Great makes an excellent collection in itself. The collector will find a considerable challenge in locating some of the denominations, like the didrachm. Condition is also often wanting on the smaller coins; this is a little beauty! Estimated Value $200 - 250. Categories:
