Montenegro. Gold Medal, 1893. 45.2 mm in diameter. Weight 27 grams. Made in celebration of Obod Printing House, 400th anniversary. Minted during the reign of Prince Nikola, Later King. Obverse: Crowned double headed eagle with spread wings. Reverse: Depicts "Osmoglasnik" book laid on crossed sword and arrow (symbolizing times where Montenegro was in constant battle for freedom with Ottoman Turks - and still found time, funds and energy to print books), with date 1493 and writing "Spomenica 400 Godisnjic Obodske Stamparije". The Only Known Example. Extremely Rare and Probably Unique. NGC graded Proof 61 Ultra Cameo. Estimated Value $10,000 - 12,000. Categories:
