Kingdom of Lydia, Time of Kroisos, 560-546 BC. AR Double Siglos (or Stater; 10.57 g). Foreparts of lion and bull, face to face. Reverse: Oblong punch divided into two square segments. BMC 37. Very rare. Vigorous style; sharp strike. Extremely Fine. Exhibits only very light "fingerprinting" (porosity), as commonly seen on archaic Greek coins from hoards being buried at greater depth.
