1732,
MEXICO. 8 Reales, 1732-MoF. Philip V (1700-46). NGC Unc Details--Salt Water Damage.
KM-103; Cal-type-146#774; Gil-M-8-1; FC-1. Small crown, two mouldings atop pillars. Die chip to lower right and directly above upper quatrefoil at denomination. A well struck example with full details in arms, pillars and globes. Essentially a mint state coin that is somewhat bright from conservation and removal of marine encrustation. Light porosity is noted on the pillar side from 9 to 12 o’clock from exposure to salt water, otherwise sharp and attractive, especially on the shield side. Quite RARE and remarkably well preserved for a 1732 8 Reales recovered from the 1733 plate fleet.
Pedigree: From the David Gray Collection. Purchased from Frank Sedwick January 10, 1995. Ex: 1733 Fleet.
