1856-S. PCGS graded AU-58. Partially lustrous yellow-gold with lively mint frost in the most protected areas. A tiny die defect is noted at bottom of second L in DOLLAR, this being seen on several others we have cataloged. No serious marks are present, only light wear from a short time in circulation. The '56-S is a scarcer date in the series and highly collectible. Pop 29; 12 finer at PCGS. (PCGS # 7975) . Estimated Value $5,000 - 5,500. Categories: $3 Gold
